Overview:

The Dominion Curling Club Championship is an annual event for men’s and women’s curling teams who have won their respective local club championships. Winning teams from each club will be “The Dominion Club Champions” and will play down to produce a provincial/territorial champion from all ten provinces and three territories, plus a separate entry for Northern Ontario, who will then compete at the national level.

The event gives grass roots curling teams from every corner of the country an opportunity to compete in provincial/territorial and national level competition. Club curlers are those who enjoy the sport recreationally, supporting club leagues on a regular basis from September to April. These teams now have a venue to demonstrate their skill against other curling clubs in their province/territory and country.

This is the ultimate experience for club curlers. Provincial and Territorial Champions receive travel, accommodations, many meals, provincial/territorial on-ice jackets and shirts as well as a championship banner to hang proudly in their home club – all courtesy of The Dominion.

The Dominion Curling Club Championship is an annual event for Men’s and Women’s curling teams who have won their respective local club championships. Winning teams from the event will be “The Dominion Club Champions” and will play down to produce a provincial/territory champion from all 10 provinces and 3 territories, plus a separate entry for Northern Ontario, who will then compete at the national level.

The Dominion trusts that all participants will respect the intent of this championship. The event is formulated for true club curlers, not elite, past or present. The Dominion wants to support ordinary curlers and the development of curling across Canada. As the Dominion sets their eligibility and on-ice rules, including the CCA Rules of Curling for General Play, keep this objective in mind. The Dominion reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to exclude any team that violates this spirit and intent.

The winner of the Dominion Curling Club Men's Provincial Championships in Ituna will go on to compete in the National Dominion Curling Club Championships at the Fort William Curling Club, November 18-23, 2013.

We were awarded this event as a result of discussions between Barry Whitehouse, the 2012 SCA President and Glen Kozak, the Ituna Curling Club's President and Icemaker.

There are 16 teams in total. 64 curlers coming to our community, staying for the weekend as our guests. The curling club host committee is currently hard at work planning for meals and seeking sponsorship in order to increase the hospitality that we can show our curlers.
